LED street light manufacturer in Mumbai

We are an LED street light manufacturer in Mumbai: Vinayak Electricals, making VIYONA LED street lights at our own works in Marol, Andheri East, since 1995 alongside our switches, MCBs and other LED lights. Our street lights run in two series, a standard series from 18W to 100W and an Ultra Prime series from 15W to 100W, each with a printed MRP in our catalogue.

Typical places for our street lights are housing society roads, compound walls, campus lanes, factory approach roads and parking areas: places where a 15W to 30W fitting on a 5 to 8 metre pole or a wall bracket does the job. That band is the focus of this page. For bigger roads we make 36W, 50W and 100W fittings too.

This page is for the people who buy street lights in numbers: electrical contractors, builders, society committees, facility managers and dealers. It covers what is inside a fitting, our codes and MRPs, how to choose between the two series, the spare drivers we keep, and how to order.

What is inside an LED street light

An LED street light is a sealed housing with four working parts: a clamp that grips the pole arm, a driver that turns 230 V AC into the DC the LEDs need, an LED board facing the road, and a glass or diffuser cover. Fins on top carry heat away, because heat is what shortens an LED’s life.

Drawn by us, a typical layout, not to scale and not our exact housing.

Of these, the driver is the part most likely to fail first, and the one worth stocking as a spare. The LED board, kept cool, usually outlasts it.

Standard or Ultra Prime: how to choose

The two series overlap at 24W, 30W, 50W and 100W, and only the standard series has 18W and 36W; only the Ultra Prime has 15W and 20W. So the wattage you need often makes the choice for you.

  • Lowest cost lane light: Ultra Prime 15W (1078), ₹550.
  • 24W on a budget: Ultra Prime 1079, ₹650.
  • 18W: standard 1071 only, ₹850.
  • 30W: either series, ₹1,200.
  • 36W: standard 1074 only, ₹1,240.

Where the price is the same, choose by the housing and the look you want on site, and keep one series per road so every pole matches. Ask your dealer to show both before ordering a whole project.

In our printed catalogue the Ultra Prime 20W (1096) is ₹900, above the Ultra Prime 24W (1079) at ₹650. Check the current MRP with us before quoting the 20W.

Above 30W: 36W, 50W and 100W

For a wider colony road, a main approach road or a factory yard, the standard series goes up to 36W (₹1,240, 1074), 50W (₹1,600, 1075) and 100W (₹2,400, 1076). The Ultra Prime 50W (1098) and 100W (1099) carry the same MRPs.

These higher wattages go on taller poles with wider spacing, and the jump from 30W to 36W costs only ₹40 more per fitting. That makes the 36W worth a look where a 30W road is borderline.

How tall, how far apart and how many watts for a given road is covered in our street light pole height and spacing guide. The 30W, a common choice for society roads, has its own page: 30 watt LED street light.

Who buys our street lights

  • Housing societies: internal roads, gates, parking and the compound wall.
  • Builders: new layouts and podium drives, usually ordered with the switches and MCBs.
  • Electrical contractors: factory and warehouse approach roads, campuses, schools.
  • Facility managers: replacing old sodium or CFL fittings on existing poles.
  • Dealers: stocking boxes for local contractors and societies.

For a replacement job the existing poles and arms usually stay, so the only questions are the wattage, the clamp fitting the arm and the supply at the pole top. Measure the arm diameter before ordering, and look at the old junction at the pole foot while the ladder is up.

For a new society layout, our Maharashtra supply page lists the regions our dealers cover, and we can supply the street lights with the switch gear for the same project.

Replacing old sodium, CFL or tube street lights

Many society and factory roads still run old sodium vapour, CFL or tube-light street fittings. Replacing them with LED is usually the cheapest lighting upgrade a committee can make: the poles, arms and cable stay, and only the fitting and its control gear go.

The old fitting’s choke, ignitor or capacitor comes out with it; an LED street light has its own driver and needs only phase, neutral and earth at the pole top. At the board, give the street light circuit its own MCB and an RCCB (30 mA earth-leakage breaker): the fittings and poles are metal and the joints sit in the rain. Check the cable at the top of each pole while you are there: old street light cable is often baked brittle by years of heat from the old lamp.

As a rough match by light on the road, an old fitting is usually replaced by an LED of a fraction of its watts, but compare the lumens on the carton rather than trusting a ratio. Our guide to lumens vs watts explains how to read them. On a society road the common result is an 18W to 30W LED fitting replacing a much larger old lamp.

Keep one old fitting aside until the new road has been checked at night. If a stretch looks darker, it is cheaper to move one fitting or raise one wattage than to re-do the road.

Spare drivers by wattage

We list spare street and flood light drivers in three bands, each with a printed MRP:

  • 1043: 18W to 24W, ₹240.
  • 1044: 30W to 36W, ₹360.
  • 1045: 50W, ₹400.

Our catalogue prints IS 15885 (Part 2/Sec 13) and registration R-71026310 in its driver section; ask us for the registration of the exact driver code. A contractor maintaining a society with forty 24W lights can keep a few 1043 drivers on the shelf and change a failed one at the pole top, rather than replacing the whole fitting.

Match the driver to the band, not just to “about the right watts”. The 1043 (18W to 24W) also covers the Ultra Prime 20W (1096). We do not list a spare driver for the 15W or 100W street lights, so ask us for those. Our LED driver guide explains why drivers fail and how to tell a driver fault from a board fault.

Pole-top work is work at height on a live circuit. Isolate the street light MCB, test dead at the pole, and use a proper ladder or lift with a second person.

Checks when the boxes arrive

  • Code and watts: on every carton, against the order and the bill.
  • Series: standard and Ultra Prime should not be mixed on one road.
  • Transit damage: a cracked cover lets in rain; set it aside and report it.
  • Test one: connect one fitting on the bench before sending ladders out.
  • Keep the bill: warranty claims go by code and date.

Testing one fitting from each box on the ground takes minutes and saves a pole climb if something is wrong. Have an electrician wire it through a proper lead and switch, never bare wires pushed into a socket. Do the checks before the electricians start work, while every carton is still intact and the codes are easy to match against the bill. If anything does not match, tell your dealer or our office the code, the quantity and the bill number before fitting.

Running cost: units per night

An LED street light’s running cost is set by its watts and its hours. At about 12 hours a night:

Energy per fitting, 12 hours a night

30W0.36 units/night
24W0.29 units/night
18W0.22 units/night
15W0.18 units/night

Our arithmetic: watts × 12 hours ÷ 1000 = units (kWh). Your tariff and hours set the bill.

Across a year that is roughly 131 units for a 30W fitting and 79 units for an 18W. On a 20-light society road, choosing 24W instead of 30W saves about 526 units a year. Put the whole street light circuit on a timer or dusk-to-dawn sensor so no fitting burns through the day.

Ordering and quotations

We supply in full boxes of 10, through our dealers or direct to projects through our office. A box of ten 1072 24W fittings is ₹9,000 at MRP; ten 1079 Ultra Prime 24W, ₹6,500; ten 1073 30W, ₹12,000.

For a quotation, send the road length, the number of poles or the fitting count, the wattage and series if you know them, and the delivery location. If you are not sure of the wattage, send the pole height and road width and we will suggest one. Warranty runs 5 to 10 years by product; ask for the term on the codes you choose.

The LED street light product page lists the codes with photos.
