Which switch ratings do we make, from 6A to 32A?

We make switches rated 6A, 10A or 10AX, 16A, 20A or 20AX, 25A and 32A: 6A and 10AX for lights and fans, 16A to 25A for heavier directly switched loads, and 32A double pole switches for geysers, air conditioners and other high-current points.

For lights and fans a 6A or 10AX switch is correct. The X in 10AX and 20AX is the marking commonly used for switches rated for inductive and fluorescent-type loads. Heavier points typically move up to 16A or 20AX, and a geyser or AC is usually fed through a 32A DP switch that breaks live and neutral together.

Modular switches manufacturers in Mumbai: KEMPS and VIZA

Our modular switches are KEMPS and VIZA. A modular switch is a module that clips into a frame behind a cover plate, so one board can mix switches, sockets and regulators, and a faulty module is usually swapped without changing the plate.

KEMPS switches come in the Peony, Daisy, Orchid, Vinca and Aster lines, each in white and a grey finish. The KEMPS Peony K101 10AX one way switch is ₹65 MRP and the K102 two way is ₹105. VIZA has the most switch lines of the three, among them Piano, Mirchi, Cherry, Slim and Royal, plus a matt black line: the VIZA Piano V101 is ₹56 and the black Mirchi V1215 is ₹62.

VIYONA: our conventional switch range

VIYONA is our lowest-MRP range: conventional polycarbonate switches in the Deluxe, Nano and Decent 6A lines, a 16A one way switch that carries the ISI mark, surface and concealed 32A DP switches, and bed switches, all with printed MRPs and made at the same Mumbai works as KEMPS and VIZA.

The 6A Deluxe line runs 101 one way ₹22, 102 two way ₹36 and 103 bell push ₹30, with a 108 indicator lamp at ₹30 in the Nano line. For heavier points the 151 is a 16A one way switch marked ISI MARK in our catalogue at ₹74. The VIYONA 32A DP switch comes as 175 surface at ₹195 and 176 concealed at ₹205. Switch socket manufacturer: switches and sockets from one maker

As a switch and socket manufacturer we make the sockets that sit beside our switches in all three series: 6A two pin and three pin sockets, 6A and 16A universal sockets, 16A sockets, and 6A two in one five pin sockets, so a board can be ordered from a single catalogue by code.

A 16A socket belongs behind a switch rated for the load, never a 6A switch.

IS 3854 and ISI licence CM/L-7567794: what to check on a switch

IS 3854 is the Indian Standard for switches for domestic and similar purposes, and a genuine ISI-marked switch carries the ISI mark with a licence number starting CM/L; ours are made to IS 3854 under ISI licence CM/L-7567794, which you can match against the BIS licence records before placing a large order.

Four things are worth reading on the switch or its box before you buy in quantity: the IS 3854 standard, the CM/L-7567794 licence number, the rating such as 10AX or 20AX, and the manufacturer’s name and address. Our catalogue lists the switch HSN code as 85365020.

The company also holds ISO 9001:2015, a quality-system certificate, not a product standard.
