A modular switch board price is the sum of three things: the switch and socket modules, the cover plate, and the box behind it. Using our current catalogue MRPs, a 6-module bedroom board in VIZA Cherry comes to ₹537 for the modules and plate, an 8-module kitchen board to ₹764, and a 12-module living room board to ₹1,298. Below, every price is broken down code by code, with the sums written out, so you can price your own board.

Modular switch board price: the short answer
At our current catalogue MRPs, a complete modular switch board costs ₹537 for a 6-module bedroom board, ₹764 for an 8-module kitchen board and ₹1,298 for a 12-module living room board in all-white VIZA with a Cherry white plate, counting the switches, sockets, any regulator and the cover plate with its frame.
Those figures are worked out, not estimated. Each board below lists every module by code, its MRP and the plate for that size, with the sum written out, so you can change one line — a 2 way switch for a 1 way, or a glass-style plate for a white one — and re-add the board yourself. The concealed box in the wall adds ₹118 to ₹170 for these three sizes; wire and the electrician’s labour are separate.

What does a modular switch board price include?
A modular switch board price includes four parts: the switch and socket modules, each 1M or 2M wide; the cover plate, sized to the total module count; the frame that holds the modules, which comes clipped to the plate in our ranges; and the concealed or surface box in the wall, which is bought separately.

Plates come in fixed sizes: 1M 2M 3M 4M 6M 8M 12M 18M, with a 16M size in some designs such as Cherry and Teyoma. For surface wiring, the VIZA smart modular surface gang box replaces the concealed box, from ₹65 for 1 way (V641) to ₹265 for 18 way (V649); see our surface gang boxes.

8M plates come in two layouts, horizontal and square. In Cherry both are ₹175, but the box in the wall decides which one you need, so check it before you order.

Modular switch price: what each module costs
A 1M modular switch is the cheapest part of the board: in VIZA Cherry a 10A 1 way switch (V541) is ₹56, a 10A 2 way (V542) ₹79 and a 20A 1 way (V546) ₹89, while in KEMPS Orchid the 10AX 1 way (K141) is ₹65, the 10AX 2 way (K142) ₹115 and the 20AX 1 way (K147) ₹120.

Small extras add a little each: a VIZA bell push (V543) is ₹82 and a 1 way switch with indicator (V544) ₹79. Buy the rating the load needs, not the cheapest: a 6A or 10AX switch is correct for lights and fans. Dealers often sell below it; box and labour are extra.

Modular switch and socket price list
In our modular switch and socket price list, sockets cost more than switches because they carry the load: a VIZA 6A 2 pin socket with shutter (V262, 1M) is ₹78, a VIZA 16A porcelain-base socket (V263, 2M) ₹160, a KEMPS 6A 3 pin socket (K192) ₹110 and the KEMPS 6A and 16AX universal socket (K193) ₹205.
6A 2 pin ₹78 1M for chargers and lamps; 16A ₹150–₹160 2M for heavy appliances (the white VIZA 16A PC socket V264 is ₹150); 6A and 16AX universal ₹205 when one point must take both plug sizes. In the VIZA Black range, the 16A porcelain socket V1266 is ₹179 and the 16A PC socket V1267 ₹170.

Regulators and chargers are the dear modules. A VIZA 1M Royal EME 4 step regulator (V278) is ₹360 and the 2M 5 step (V279) ₹425; KEMPS K213 is ₹405 and K214 ₹450. A KEMPS K207 USB charger socket is ₹750 and the VIZA V305 ₹650. A “2 in 1 five pin” socket such as VIZA V1264 (₹69) is a 6A socket. It does not take a 16A plug, so do not count it as a heavy-appliance point when pricing a kitchen.

Modular plate price list by size
A modular plate’s price rises with its size: in VIZA Cherry white a 1M or 2M plate is ₹65, a 4M ₹98, a 6M ₹140, an 8M ₹175, a 12M ₹213 and an 18M ₹278, while KEMPS Orchid white runs from ₹102 for 1M to ₹520 for 18M, with the 6M Orchid at ₹230.

VIZA Cherry white plate MRP by size
Codes V1151 to V1160; black costs the same as white. The white chrome version of the same plate is ₹85 (1M) to ₹355 (18M). Bars to scale against ₹278.
A 1M and a 2M plate cost the same in Cherry, so a single switch point can take the 2M and leave room for one more module later. The Cherry plate range and Orchid plate range list every size, and our modular plate sizes guide shows what fits in each.
Every plate we make is UV-protected, does not turn yellow, carries a 5-year warranty and fits all major modular switch systems, so the cheapest white plate is not a short-lived one.
Plate finish: where the price really moves
Switches cost much the same across finishes; the plate does not. For the same 6M size, our catalogue runs from ₹110 for a VIZA Decore white plate to ₹748 for a VIZA Glasso white glass-style plate, almost seven times as much, with the same switches behind it.

None of our plates is real glass. Peony and Glasso are glass-style and Cristal is acrylic. Our glass modular plates guide prices all three from 1M to 18M.
Example 1: a 6-module bedroom board
A typical bedroom board has three 1 way switches for the light, the fan and a second light, one 2 way switch so the main light can also be switched at the bed, and a 16A socket. That is 6 modules: four 1M switches and one 2M socket.
In VIZA Cherry: 3 × V541 at ₹56 = ₹168, plus V542 at ₹79, plus V264 16A PC socket at ₹150. Modules: ₹168 + ₹79 + ₹150 = ₹397. The 6M Cherry white plate (V1155) adds ₹140, so the board is ₹397 + ₹140 = ₹537 at MRP.
The same board in KEMPS Orchid, with 3 × K141 at ₹65 = ₹195, plus K142 at ₹115 and a K193 universal socket at ₹205, comes to ₹515 of modules. The 6M Orchid white plate (K305) adds ₹230: ₹515 + ₹230 = ₹745.
Every module on these example boards is from the white VIZA range, so each board can be built in one colour. Black and grey versions exist in our VIZA Black range at different MRPs: the 16A PC socket there is V1267 at ₹170.

Example 2: an 8-module kitchen board
A kitchen board carries heavier loads. Two 1 way switches for the lights, a 20A switch for a heavy appliance, a 6A 2 pin socket for small appliances and two 16A sockets make 8 modules: four 1M modules and two 2M sockets.
In VIZA Cherry: 2 × V541 at ₹56 = ₹112, V546 ₹89, V262 ₹78, V263 ₹160 and V264 ₹150. Modules: ₹112 + ₹89 + ₹78 + ₹160 + ₹150 = ₹589. The 8M Cherry white plate adds ₹175, so the board is ₹589 + ₹175 = ₹764.
V263 is the porcelain-base 16A socket and V264 the PC-body one; either takes a 16A plug. In the VIZA Black range the nearest pair is V1266 (₹179) and the V1267 PC socket (₹170).
An oven, a microwave or an induction hob should be on a socket rated for it, and heavy kitchen appliances on their own circuit. Your electrician sizes the circuit; see which MCB for home.
Two 16A sockets take four of the eight modules. If the kitchen needs more heavy points, add a second board rather than a multi-plug.
Example 3: a 12-module living room board
A living room board often controls several lights, a fan with a regulator and the TV sockets. Six 1 way switches, a 2 way switch for the entrance, a 1M fan regulator, a 16A porcelain-base socket and a 16A PC socket make 12 modules.
In VIZA: 6 × V541 at ₹56 = ₹336, V542 ₹79, V278 1M Royal EME 4 step regulator ₹360, V263 16A socket ₹160 and V264 16A PC socket ₹150. Modules: ₹336 + ₹79 + ₹360 + ₹160 + ₹150 = ₹1,085. The 12M Cherry white plate (V1158) is ₹213, so the board is ₹1,085 + ₹213 = ₹1,298.

regulator ₹360 costs more than all six switches together. fan remote Leave it out if the fan has its own remote, and the board becomes an 11-module board on the same 12M plate.
A regulator is the single biggest line on most living room boards. Price it separately before you decide whether you need one.
How much does a modular board cost with the box?
With a VIZA concealed unbreakable box added, the three example boards cost ₹655 for the 6-module bedroom board, ₹894 for the 8-module kitchen board and ₹1,468 for the 12-module living room board at MRP, because the box adds ₹118, ₹130 and ₹170 for those sizes.
The arithmetic: ₹537 + ₹118 = ₹655; ₹764 + ₹130 = ₹894 (₹909 with the square 8M box at ₹145); ₹1,298 + ₹170 = ₹1,468.

How much does it cost to fit modular switches in a whole house?
Fitting modular switches across a typical 2BHK comes to ₹6,302 in parts at our MRPs, as worked out in our upgrade guide for seven KEMPS boards with 36 modules: ₹4,190 of modules, ₹1,402 of Orchid white plates and ₹710 of concealed boxes, before wire, labour and any wall repair.

Choose one plate range and finish for the whole house before you start. It keeps the boards matching if you upgrade room by room.
Why does the shop price differ from the MRP?
The shop price can differ from the MRP because MRP is the maximum retail price printed on the pack, a ceiling rather than the usual selling price, and dealers commonly sell below it by an amount that varies with the city, the dealer and the size of the order.
below MRP is common; above MRP is not a price you should pay. That is why we publish MRPs: they let you compare ranges on the same basis, even if the bill you pay is lower.
The board price also leaves out the concealed box, the wire, the conduit and the labour, which your electrician quotes. Ask for the parts and the labour on separate lines so you can check the parts against the MRPs here.

How to keep a modular board’s cost down
Three choices save the most. Pick a white plate in a standard range; it is the biggest single saving. Size the plate to the modules you need, since a spare 2M on an 8M board costs more than a 6M board with nothing spare. And use 10A switches for lights and fans, keeping 20A switches for the heavy loads that need them.
Do not save on the socket rating for heavy appliances, and do not skip the 2 way switch you will want later: adding it after plastering means a new wire in the wall.
