Modular switch board price: the short answer

With our 2026 MRPs, a complete modular switch board costs roughly ₹557 for a 6-module bedroom board, ₹803 for an 8-module kitchen board and ₹1,318 for a 12-module living room board, in VIZA Cherry with a white plate. That covers the switches, sockets and cover plate. The concealed box, wiring and the electrician’s labour are separate.

Those figures are worked out, not estimated. Each board below lists every module by code, its MRP from our catalogue, and the plate for that size. Change one line, a 2 way switch for a 1 way or a glass plate for a white one, and you can re-add the board yourself.

We manufacture every product priced here in Mumbai under our KEMPS and VIZA modular ranges. That is the only reason we can quote to the rupee: these are our own list prices, not survey figures.

What a modular switch board price includes

A modular board has four parts. The modules are the switches, sockets, regulators and indicators, each 1M or 2M wide. The plate is the visible cover, sized to the total modules: 1M, 2M, 3M, 4M, 6M, 8M, 12M, 16M or 18M. Behind the plate is the concealed box in the wall, and holding the modules is the frame.

In our KEMPS and VIZA ranges the frame comes with the plate: the catalogue lists each plate as front frame clipped with base plate. So a board price is modules plus plate, plus the box. Modular switch price: what each module costs

A 1M modular switch is the cheapest part of the board. In VIZA Cherry, a 10A 1 way switch (V541) is ₹56, a 10A 2 way (V542) ₹79 and a 20A 1 way (V546) ₹89. In KEMPS Orchid, the 10AX 1 way (K141) is ₹65, the 10AX 2 way (K142) ₹115 and the 20AX 1 way (K147) ₹120.

Modular socket price

Sockets cost more than switches because they carry the load and most are 2M. From VIZA: a 6A 2 pin socket with shutter (V262, 1M) is ₹78, a 16A socket on a porcelain base (V263) ₹160, a 16A twin socket (V1267) ₹170, and a 16A socket (V1266) ₹179. From KEMPS: the 6AX 3 pin socket with shutter (K192) is ₹110 and the 6AX and 16AX universal socket (K193) ₹205.

Modular plate price list by size

The plate price rises with its size. In VIZA Cherry white, a 1M or 2M plate is ₹65, a 4M ₹98, a 6M ₹140, an 8M ₹175, a 12M ₹213 and an 18M ₹278. KEMPS Orchid white runs from ₹102 for 1M to ₹520 for 18M.

Plate finish: where the price really moves

Switches cost much the same across finishes; the plate does not. For the same 6M size, our catalogue runs from ₹110 for a VIZA Decore white plate to ₹748 for a VIZA Glasso white glass plate, almost seven times as much.

Example 1: a 6-module bedroom board

A typical bedroom board has three 1 way switches for the light, fan and a second light, one 2 way switch so the light can also be switched at the bed, and a 16A twin socket. That is 6 modules.

In VIZA Cherry: 3 × V541 (₹56) = ₹168, 1 × V542 (₹79), 1 × V1267 twin socket (₹170). Modules total ₹417; the 6M Cherry white plate adds ₹140, so the board is ₹557 at MRP.

The same board in KEMPS Orchid, with 3 × K141, 1 × K142 and a K193 universal socket, comes to ₹515 of modules plus ₹230 for the 6M Orchid white plate: ₹745.

Example 2: an 8-module kitchen board

A kitchen board carries heavier loads. Two 1 way switches for the lights, a 20A switch for a heavy appliance, a 6A 2 pin socket for small appliances, a 16A socket and a 16A twin socket: 8 modules.

In VIZA Cherry: 2 × V541 = ₹112, V546 ₹89, V262 ₹78, V1266 ₹179, V1267 ₹170. Modules total ₹628; the 8M Cherry white plate is ₹175, so the board is ₹803.

Example 3: a 12-module living room board

A living room board often controls several lights, a fan with a regulator and the TV sockets. Six 1 way switches, a 2 way switch for the entrance, a 1M fan regulator, a 16A socket and a 16A twin socket make 12 modules.

In VIZA: 6 × V541 = ₹336, V542 ₹79, V278 1M Royal EME 4 step regulator ₹360, V263 16A socket ₹160 and V1267 twin socket ₹170. Modules total ₹1,105; the 12M Cherry white plate is ₹213, so the board is ₹1,318.

Notice where the money goes: the regulator alone costs as much as six switches. Leave it out if the fan has its own remote.

Why the price you pay differs from the MRP

MRP is the maximum retail price printed on the pack; it is the ceiling, not the usual selling price. Dealers commonly sell below MRP, and the discount varies by city, dealer and order size. That is why we publish MRPs: they let you compare ranges on the same basis.

The board price also leaves out the concealed box, the wire, the conduit and the labour, which your electrician quotes. For a whole house, price every board the same way and add them up.

How to keep a modular board’s cost down

Three choices save the most. Pick a white plate in a standard range; it is the biggest single saving. Size the plate to the modules you need, since a spare 2M on an 8M board costs more than a 6M board with nothing spare. And use 10A switches for lights and fans, keeping 20A switches for the heavy loads that need them.

Do not save on the ratings of sockets for heavy appliances, and do not mix ranges on one frame: modules fit the frame of their own range. Our guide to choosing a modular switch brand covers what to check beyond price.
