Super Slim LED Panel Lights: Round and Square, 8W to 22W

Super Slim Panel Light: Round and Square, 8W to 22W, Price
A super slim panel light is a recessed LED panel with a very thin body. We make VIYONA super slim panels in round and square, 8W to 22W, from ₹300 to ₹600 MRP, plus a 3 in 1 at 15W for ₹590, at our works in Marol, Andheri East, Mumbai.

Key takeaways

  • Super slim = a very thin recessed panel; our catalogue prints no body depth, so measure it against your ceiling void.
  • MRPs: 8W ₹300 (1031), 12W ₹370 (1032), 15W ₹420 (1033), 22W ₹600 (1034); 3 in 1 15W ₹590 (1035).
  • Round and square share one code and one price; all five pack 20 per box.
  • 15W and 22W are the best value per watt; use the 8W only where a small light is wanted.
  • Spare drivers: 1041 (9W to 15W) ₹180, 1042 (18W to 22W) ₹200.

What is a super slim panel light?

A super slim panel light is a recessed LED panel with a very thin body that drops into a round or square cut-out in a false ceiling. Its face sits flush with the ceiling and spreads even, diffused light. What makes it “super slim” is its body, which can be very thin behind the rim. Our catalogue does not print the body depth or say where the driver sits, so check both on the panel you buy.

That thin body is the reason to choose it. Mumbai flats often have a false ceiling dropped just enough to hide a beam or a duct, and a deep panel will not fit under the beam. A thin panel has a better chance, but measure the actual panel against the void first.

We make the VIYONA LED super slim panel at our works in Marol, Andheri East, Mumbai, in four plain wattages from 8W to 22W and one 3 in 1 version at 15W. Every code comes in round and square at the same MRP.

The driver and the depth to check

Every LED panel needs a driver to turn 230 V AC mains into DC for the LEDs. Our spare panel driver labels read 40 to 75 V DC out and warn that the output is not mains isolated, so the panel side is not safe to touch. Our catalogue does not say whether the super slim driver is a separate box or built in, so check the panel you buy, or ask us. The panel clips into the hole with spring clips.

Diagram: super slim LED panel clipped into a false ceiling cut-out under a beam, showing the clear depth to measure

Drawn by us, not to scale. If your panel has a separate driver, check it can reach the cut-out on its lead before you fix the ceiling position.

Two things follow. Measure the clear depth under any beam against the actual panel, driver included if it is built in. And wherever the driver sits, it must be reachable from the cut-out, because one day it may need changing.

Super slim panel light watts and MRP

These are the printed MRPs from our current catalogue. All five codes pack 20 per box.

Our super slim panels by MRP

1034: 22W₹600
1035: 3 in 1 15W₹590
1033: 15W₹420
1032: 12W₹370
1031: 8W₹300

Printed MRPs from our current catalogue. Bars to scale. Round and square cost the same.

The jump that stands out is the 3 in 1: at 15W it costs ₹590 against ₹420 for the plain 15W, because it can switch between three light colours. Our 3 in 1 panel light guide explains how that works and whether it is worth the extra ₹170.

Thin body

A very thin recessed panel; check its depth against your ceiling void.

8W to 22W

Four plain wattages from ₹300 to ₹600 MRP.

3 in 1 option

A 15W that switches colour, ₹590.

Spare drivers

1041 ₹180 and 1042 ₹200, by wattage band.

Round or square: same code, same price

Our catalogue lists every super slim code as ROUND/SQUARE: the 15W 1033 is the same ₹420 whether you choose a disc or a square. So the shape is a design decision, not a cost one.

In general, square lines up with straight cove lines, cabinets and tile edges, and round suits a room with curves or a single centre feature. A round cut-out is also easier to cut cleanly with a hole saw in gypsum board, while a square one needs careful marking.

What matters most is consistency: one shape per room, and ideally one shape per flat. We go through the choice room by room in round vs square panel light.

Order the shape by name on the purchase list. The code alone does not say round or square, so write both.

Price per watt across the range

Small panels cost more per watt than big ones, because the rim, clips and driver cost much the same whatever the wattage. Dividing each MRP by its rated watts:

Super slim MRP per watt

8W (1031)₹37.50/W
12W (1032)₹30.83/W
15W (1033)₹28.00/W
22W (1034)₹27.27/W

Our arithmetic from printed MRPs: MRP divided by rated watts. Bars to scale.

So the 15W and 22W panels are the better value per watt, and the 8W is the one to use only where a small light is really wanted, such as a passage or bathroom. Do not put three 8W panels where one 22W would do the job; it costs more and needs three cut-outs.

Super slim vs our other recessed panels

We make three recessed panel series, and at 15W and 22W they overlap. The super slim costs a little more at 15W: ₹420 against ₹400 for the 15W Ultra Prime (1022), slim (1025) and aluminium casting slim (1027) panels. At 22W the super slim (1034) and aluminium casting (1028) are both ₹600, and the Ultra Prime 22W (1023) is ₹580.

What you get for the difference is the thin body. Our catalogue does not print body depths, so measure the panel of each series against your ceiling void before choosing; where both fit, choose by price and the look of the rim.

Our catalogue prints IS 10322 (Part 5/Sec 2) against the Ultra Prime, slim and aluminium casting series. It does not print a standard against the super slim block, so we do not claim one for it here.

Our LED panel light manufacturer page sets all three series side by side. For sizes and cut-outs across all our panels, see LED panel light size.

Which watt for which room

As a common starting point in Indian flats with a false ceiling:

  • 8W: bathroom, passage, wardrobe area, puja niche.
  • 12W: bedroom perimeter, spaced over a cove, or a small kitchen.
  • 15W: the workhorse for bedrooms and kitchens, two to four per room.
  • 22W: living room and hall, or a dining area under one light.

Recessed panels usually go in a pattern rather than one in the middle: four 12W or 15W panels spread across a bedroom give more even light than one 22W at the centre. Space them roughly evenly and keep the first row about half a gap from the walls.

This is not a substitute for a lighting plan. Our guide on how many lights a room needs works out the count from room size and lux, and lumens vs watts explains why lumens decide brightness.

Cut-outs, beams and installation

The panel needs three things from the false ceiling: a clean cut-out of the right size, a board stiff enough for the spring clips to grip, and room for the driver if it sits beside the hole. Cut-out sizes vary by series and wattage, so take the figure from the carton or measure the actual panel before the ceiling contractor cuts anything.

  • Cut too big: the rim does not cover the edge and the clips slip.
  • Driver buried: pushed far along the board, it cannot be reached later.
  • Live work: switch off the MCB and test dead before connecting.

Under a beam, measure the clear depth between the board and the beam first. Check the actual panel against that depth, and leave room for the supply cable and any driver lead to bend.

Connect the mains only to the driver input, never to the panel lead. The panel side runs on 40 to 75 V DC from a driver whose label says the output is not mains isolated, so treat the panel lead as live; mains there destroys the LEDs at once.

The driver: spares and replacement

When a panel goes dark after years of use, the driver is the usual culprit, not the LEDs. Where the driver is a separate unit, it can usually be swapped through the cut-out without changing the panel or the ceiling; ask us how the super slim driver is fitted before you stock spares.

We list two spare panel drivers: 1041 for 9W to 15W at ₹180 and 1042 for 18W to 22W at ₹200. The 1041 label, as printed in our catalogue, reads input 90 to 240 V AC and output 40 to 75 V DC at 180 mA with the warning that the output is not mains isolated, and is listed against IS 15885 (Part 2/Sec 13).

Match the spare to the panel’s wattage band. Our catalogue does not list a spare driver for the 8W, so ask us for the right one before ordering. Our guide on the LED driver explains why drivers fail and how to choose one.

Example: a 2BHK in super slim panels

To show what the panels cost on a real job, here is one way a contractor might light a 2BHK with a full false ceiling. It is an example, not a lighting plan:

  • Living room: 4 × 15W (1033) = ₹1,680
  • Two bedrooms: 6 × 12W (1032) = ₹2,220
  • Kitchen: 2 × 15W (1033) = ₹840
  • Passage and two bathrooms: 4 × 8W (1031) = ₹1,200

That is 16 panels for ₹5,940 at MRP, before the false ceiling, wire, switches and labour. Swap the living room to the 3 in 1 (1035) and the living room alone rises from ₹1,680 to ₹2,360.

For the switch boards on the same job, our switch board price guide prices boards room by room.

Mistakes people make with super slim panels

  • Mixing series in one room: a super slim next to an Ultra Prime of the same watts can differ in rim and tint. Buy one series per room.
  • Too few panels: one 22W in the middle of a living room leaves dark corners; several 15W panels spread out light it better.
  • Driver left on the slab: a separate driver hanging by its lead or lying on wet plaster runs hot and fails early. Rest it on the board.
  • Mains on the wrong lead: always to the driver input, never to the panel side.
  • Shape not written: the code covers round and square; the order must name the shape.

Most of these are decided on the drawing, before the ceiling contractor cuts a single hole. Mark each panel position, its wattage and its shape on the ceiling plan, and check it against the furniture layout so a panel does not land over a wardrobe door or the head of a bed. If a light later flickers or glows faintly when switched off, our guides to LED flicker and LEDs glowing when off cover the usual causes.

Buying super slim panels by the box

Super slim panels pack 20 per box, twice the box of most of our panels, and we sell in full boxes only. A box of 1033 15W panels comes to ₹8,400 at MRP, a box of 1031 8W panels to ₹6,000 and a box of 1034 22W panels to ₹12,000.

That suits contractors and dealers working across several flats. For one flat, buy through a dealer. Warranty runs 5 to 10 years by product; ask for the term on the code you buy. The Ultra Prime and slim panel product page lists our other recessed series for comparison.
