Bullet LED: Slim 9W to 22W Fittings and When to Use Them

Bullet LED Bulb: 9W to 22W Fittings, Uses and Price
A bullet LED in our catalogue is a slim LED fitting that screws to a wall or ceiling, not a lamp for a holder: four sizes, 9W white (₹320), 12W natural white (₹360), 15W white (₹510) and 22W natural white (₹560). Below: where it fits, its colours and running cost, how it is wired, and the tall bullet-shaped bulbs to buy instead if you need a lamp.

Key takeaways

  • Our Bullet LED is a fitting, not a bulb: it is wired directly and has no holder.
  • Four sizes: 9W white ₹320 (1054), 12W natural white ₹360 (1055), 15W white ₹510 (1056), 22W natural white ₹560 (1057).
  • Use it over mirrors, on passage walls, in showcases and on kitchen walls, indoors.
  • At 6 hours a day the 9W uses 1.62 units a month and the 22W 3.96.
  • Want a tall bulb for a holder? That is our 23W or Sumo 30W to 50W, B22 cap.

What a bullet LED is in our range

People search for a bullet LED bulb meaning two different things, so it is worth settling first. In our catalogue, the Bullet LED is a slim, elongated light fitting that screws to a wall or ceiling and is wired directly, in four sizes from 9W to 22W. It is not a lamp that pushes into a holder. It sits in the same section of our catalogue as our LED tube fittings, and it does a similar job: a line of light along a wall, a mirror or a shelf.

Some shops also call a tall, cylinder-shaped high-wattage lamp a “bullet bulb”. In our range that lamp is the 23W (1069) or the Sumo 30W to 50W, which do fit an ordinary B22 holder. If that is what you are after, our 30 watt LED bulb guide covers it, and this page points you there below.

Our four Bullet LED fittings are VIYONA codes 1054 to 1057, from ₹320 to ₹560 MRP, ten to a box. Below: the sizes and colours, where they fit, what they cost to run, how they are wired, and how they compare in price with a holder and lamp.

A lamp in a holder vs a bullet LED fitting

Diagram: a B22 lamp pushed into a ceiling holder beside a bullet LED fitting screwed to a wall and wired to its own terminals

Drawn by us from our catalogue photos, not to scale. The 9W has pointed ends; the 12W, 15W and 22W have a longer, rounded body.

Sizes, colours and MRPs

Our catalogue lists four Bullet LED fittings. Note that the colour alternates with the wattage:

VIYONA Bullet LED MRP

22W natural white (1057)₹560
15W white (1056)₹510
12W natural white (1055)₹360
9W white (1054)₹320

Printed MRPs from our current catalogue. Bars to scale. Ten fittings to a box for each code.

So the 9W (1054) and 15W (1056) come in white, and the 12W (1055) and 22W (1057) in natural white. If the colour matters more to you than the exact wattage, choose by colour first. All four are packed 10 per box.

White or natural white?

“White” on an LED carton usually means a cool, bluish white, the colour of a daylight tube, often marked around 6500K. “Natural white” usually means a neutral white between warm and cool, often around 4000K, which shows skin tones and food more naturally.

As a rough guide: cool white suits a shop showcase, a store or a work area where you want things to look crisp; natural white suits a mirror, a dressing area, a kitchen wall or a living room where people sit. The kelvin figure on the carton is the exact number. Our warm white vs cool white guide explains colour temperature in full.

Do not mix a white and a natural white fitting on the same wall. Side by side, the difference shows at once and both look wrong.

A fitting

Screws to the wall and is wired direct; no holder.

Two colours

9W and 15W white; 12W and 22W natural white.

Mirrors and shelves

A slim line of light where a lamp would stick out.

₹320 to ₹560

Four codes, ten to a box.

Where a bullet LED fitting works

Because it is a fitting with its own body, the bullet LED goes where a holder and lamp would look untidy or would not fit:

  • Over a mirror in a dressing area or above a wash basin, out of splash range
  • Passage and staircase walls, where a flat fitting does not stick out
  • Shop showcases and shelves, mounted along the top of the display
  • Kitchen wall above the platform, for light on the worktop
  • Covered balcony wall, under a roof or chhajja
  • Small offices and clinics, one fitting over each desk or couch

Our catalogue does not give an IP rating for the bullet LED, so treat it as an indoor fitting. For a bathroom ceiling or an outside wall open to rain, a sealed fitting is the safer choice; see our bulkhead light guide.

Brightness and units per month

Our catalogue gives watts and MRP, not lumens. At the 90 to 100 lm/W typical of LED products, the four sizes fall in these classes, with units at 6 hours a day for 30 days:

  • 9W: roughly 810 to 900 lumens, 1.62 units a month
  • 12W: roughly 1,080 to 1,200 lumens, 2.16 units a month
  • 15W: roughly 1,350 to 1,500 lumens, 2.7 units a month
  • 22W: roughly 1,980 to 2,200 lumens, 3.96 units a month

For a mirror or a passage, the 9W or 12W is plenty. The 22W is a lot of light for a small room and suits a shop wall or a large hall. The lumens vs watts guide explains why the carton’s lumen figure beats these typical numbers.

Price against a holder and lamp, or a tube

A bullet LED costs more than a lamp, because you are buying the whole fitting. Compare the 9W options at printed MRP:

Three ways to put 9W of LED light on a wall

Bullet LED 9W (1054)₹320
6W tube fitting (1051)₹160
Batten holder + 9W lamp₹96

Printed MRPs: 1054 ₹320; 1051 ₹160; batten holder 202 ₹26 plus 9W lamp 1065 ₹70. Bars to scale.

A batten holder and 9W lamp at ₹96 is the cheapest light on a wall, but it throws light in a circle from one point and the lamp sticks out. A tube fitting gives a line of light for less; our T5 12W (1058) at ₹180 costs half the 12W bullet LED (1055, ₹360). The bullet LED is the choice when you want its particular shape, a short slim body on a mirror, a pillar or a showcase. Our tube light range has the full list of tube fittings.

Looking for a bullet-shaped bulb instead?

If you want a lamp to push into an existing holder, the tall cylinder-shaped lamps some shops call “bullet bulbs” are, in our range:

  • LED lamp 23W (1069): ₹410, a tall body for halls and small shops
  • Sumo 30W (1070): ₹480, for shops and high ceilings
  • Sumo 40W and 50W: ₹600 and ₹720, for godowns and sheds

All have a B22 cap and fit an ordinary batten holder. Our 30 watt LED bulb guide covers where they belong and how high to hang them, and our LED bulb range page lists every lamp from 9W up.

Which size for which job

Pick the size by the job and the distance from the eye, not by the size of the room alone:

  • 9W white (1054): a short mirror in a dressing area, a passage wall, a staircase landing, a pooja niche. It is the smallest body and the least glare at face height.
  • 12W natural white (1055): the mirror over a wash basin, a kitchen wall above the platform, a clinic couch. Natural white shows faces and food as they are.
  • 15W white (1056): a shop showcase, a store room, an office desk row, where crisp white light suits the work.
  • 22W natural white (1057): a shop wall, a hall, a waiting room, where one fitting lights a large area. It is too strong for a small mirror.

Where a whole wall or a long counter needs light, two smaller fittings spaced apart light it more evenly than one large one. For a room’s general light rather than a wall or a mirror, a tube fitting or panel is usually the better tool; our how many lights in a room guide shows how to work out the total.

Mounting and wiring a bullet LED

A bullet LED is wired like any fixed fitting: the switched phase and the neutral from the light point go to the fitting’s own terminals. There is no holder and no lamp to change.

  • Mark the position and check for concealed wires in the wall before drilling.
  • Bring the point’s wires out behind the fitting, so no wire runs exposed on the wall.
  • Connect phase through the switch to L, neutral to N, tighten, and fix the body square.
  • Over a mirror, centre it on the mirror, not on the old light point, if the wiring allows.

Our switch board wiring diagram shows how the light switch fits into the board.

Switch off the MCB for that circuit and test the wires dead before you connect any fitting. The light switch alone is not enough.

Mistakes people make with bullet LEDs

  • Buying it for a holder: it does not push into a holder. For a holder, buy a lamp.
  • Shower splash zone: it is not rated in our catalogue for wet areas.
  • 22W over a small mirror: too much light at face height makes glare; the 9W or 12W suits a mirror.
  • Mixing colours: white and natural white side by side look patched.
  • Exposed wiring: run the wires behind the fitting or in a casing, never loose on the wall.

If a fitting flickers or glows faintly after switching off, see why LED lights flicker and LED glowing when switched off.

For dealers: box quantities and values

Each bullet LED code is packed 10 per box and sold in full boxes. At MRP, a box is:

  • 1054, 9W white: ₹3,200
  • 1055, 12W natural: ₹3,600
  • 1056, 15W white: ₹5,100
  • 1057, 22W natural: ₹5,600

The product page for the whole group is LED tube fittings and bullet LED, and every LED code is in our LED light price list. A dealer serving interior contractors might start with a box each of the 9W and 12W for mirrors and the 22W for shop work.
