Industrial LED Lighting for a Factory or Warehouse in Maharashtra

Industrial LED Lighting Manufacturers: Factory and Warehouse Guide

Industrial LED lighting for a Maharashtra factory or warehouse is a numbers job: the lux the task needs, the height you can hang a fitting, the spacing that keeps the floor evenly lit, and a tested IP rating where dust and monsoon reach. We are a Mumbai manufacturer of LED flood lights, street lights, bulkheads and tube fittings. Below we work through a real-sized godown with catalogue MRPs, show the bay layout, and list what to ask before you order.

Key takeaways

  • Lux — about 100–150 lux for storage, 150 at loading bays, 300 for packing, 200–500+ for assembly and 300–500+ for machining, depending on how fine the work is.
  • Layout — one row of fittings over each aisle so light reaches the floor and both rack faces; example: 100 W fittings at 7 m over aisles 6 m apart.
  • Count — lumens = lux × area ÷ (UF × MF); a 600 sq m godown at 150 lux took twenty 100 W floods (assuming 100 lm/W, UF 0.6, MF 0.8), ₹39,000 at MRP.
  • Environment — a tested IP65 or better for dusty or damp sheds; our catalogue does not print IP ratings, so ask whether the exact model has one.
  • Wiring — a TPN DB for lighting, circuits split across phases, 10 A MCBs on 1.5 sq mm wire.

Industrial LED lighting manufacturers: what you are really buying

If you are searching for industrial LED lighting manufacturers for a factory shed, warehouse or godown in Maharashtra, you are really buying three things: enough light on the floor for the work being done, fittings that survive the dust and the monsoon, and wiring that keeps the lights on.

We are one such manufacturer. At our works on Marol Maroshi Road in Andheri East, Mumbai, we make LED flood lights from 10 W to 200 W, street lights from 15 W to 100 W, PVC bulkhead lights, T5 and T8 tube fittings and high-watt Sumo lamps, along with the MCBs and MCB boxes that feed them. Our LED lamps, down lights and panels, and drivers are made under BIS licences, and the company is ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Bhiwandi, Taloja, Chakan: what each belt asks of a light

Bhiwandi, in Thane district on the Mumbai–Nashik highway, is warehousing country. Vestian figures reported in October 2026 put the Bhiwandi corridor at nearly 69% of Mumbai’s 5.04 million sq ft of warehousing absorption in Q2 2026. The light has to reach the rack face and the aisle floor, not just the roof.

Taloja MIDC is in Panvel taluka, Raigad district. In a 2024 filing to the National Green Tribunal, MIDC itself said air corrosion in the industrial area corrodes the sensors at its effluent plant, sometimes within a week of repair. A light fitting there faces the same air.

Chakan, in Pune district, is one of India’s largest auto manufacturing hubs. Assembly lines and machine shops need far more light than storage does, often 200–500 lux or more at the bench.

All three get a monsoon, though the coast gets the worst of it: Santacruz in Mumbai averages about 855 mm in July alone, and coastal sheds in Bhiwandi and Taloja sit in damp air for months.

Before you choose a fitting, write down three facts about the shed: truss height, what happens on the floor (storage, packing, assembly), and how wet or dusty the air gets.

How much light does a warehouse or factory need?

A warehouse needs roughly 100 to 150 lux on the floor for storage, 150 lux at loading bays and 300 lux where goods are packed and checked; assembly needs 200 to 500 lux or more and machining 300 to 500 lux or more, depending on how fine the work is.

How much light each task needs (minimum maintained lux on the working plane)

Goods storage, little detail100 lux
Goods storage, reading labels150 lux
Loading bays150 lux
Storage rack face (vertical)200 lux
Packing and despatch300 lux
Rough machining (EN 12464-1)300 lux
Fine assembly (EN 12464-1)500 lux

Storage, loading and packing values from CIBSE/SLL Lighting Guide 1 as published by Thorlux; machining and assembly from EN 12464-1 tables as summarised by DIALux and Zumtobel. Minimum maintained values; Indian designs may use IS 3646 (Part 1). Bars to scale against 500 lux.

Lux is light falling on a surface: 1 lux = 1 lumen per sq m. The figures above are maintained values: what you must still have after dust and ageing. See lumens vs watts.

Uniformity 0.4 for storage means the darkest spot should get at least 40% of the average. And a rack face is lit on the vertical surface, best served by fittings over the aisle.

Light each zone for its own task. Lighting a whole Bhiwandi shed to packing-bench levels wastes watts in every aisle.

Lux by task

Storage, packing and assembly need very different light levels.

Which of our LED fittings goes where in a shed

In a high-roofed shed, a flood light can be hung facing down from the truss if the maker confirms the model suits that orientation, so ask us before you order. A low godown takes tube fittings, doorways take bulkheads, and the yard takes street lights. All prices below are catalogue MRP.

Flood lights: 1086 30 W MRP ₹1,100, 1087 50 W MRP ₹1,450, 1089 100 W MRP ₹1,950 and 1091 200 W MRP ₹5,200. The lens versions, 1092 50 W, 1093 100 W and 1094 200 W, carry the same MRPs; a lens over the LEDs shapes the beam, so ask for the beam angle of the exact model. Wall brackets: 1082 MRP ₹90, big 1083 MRP ₹180. More in our LED flood light range and lens vs normal flood light guide.

Tube fittings: 1059 T5 20 W MRP ₹200 and 1060 T8 40 W MRP ₹600, both PVC. Bulkheads: 1046 12 W MRP ₹330 and 1047 20 W MRP ₹480, PVC bodies. Sumo lamp: 1070B 50 W MRP ₹720.

We do not make a dedicated high-bay fitting. Above about 10 m, ask a lighting designer whether a flood light with the right beam will reach the floor at your lux target, and ask us for the photometric data before you order.

Mounting height and spacing in a racked warehouse bay

In a racked bay, put one row of fittings over each aisle so the beam reaches the aisle floor and both rack faces; in our example that is 100 W flood lights at 7 m over aisles 6 m apart, below a truss at about 9 m.

Warehouse bay side section: fitting height and spacing

Diagram: warehouse bay with 100 W flood lights 7 m up over 6 m aisles, a tube over the packing bench and a door bulkhead

Drawn by us as an example layout; proportions approximate, not to scale. Facing-down mounting applies only to a model confirmed for it. Your heights, rack layout and fitting choice set the real design. Tap the diagram to open it full size.

The mounting height is measured from the fitting down to the working plane, here the floor, because that is where lux is counted. The racks block light from the next aisle, so each aisle is lit by its own row. On an open floor with no high racks, keep spacing within about the mounting height for a wide-beam fitting, and confirm with the fitting’s photometric data.

Drop the fittings on rods below the truss rather than fixing them to the roof sheet. The ridge of a metal roof is the hottest air in the shed.

The packing bench gets its own T8 40 W tube at about 3 m, and the door gets a 20 W bulkhead. Our flood light installation guide covers brackets and aiming.

Never hang a fitting from cable alone. Use a rod, chain or bracket rated for the weight, fixed to the truss by the contractor, with the shed’s structural engineer’s OK on loads.

How many LED flood lights for a godown? A worked example

An open-floor 30 m × 20 m godown, with no high racks, lit to 150 lux needs about 1,900 W of LED fittings under our assumptions, which works out to twenty 100 W flood lights in four rows of five, at a fitting MRP of ₹39,000.

The lumen method: lumens = lux × area ÷ (UF × MF). UF is the share of light reaching the floor; MF allows for dirt and ageing. We assume UF 0.6 and MF 0.8; high racks absorb light and lower UF.

Step by step: 600 sq m × 150 lux = 90,000, ÷ 0.48 = 187,500 lumens. At an assumed 100 lumens per watt that is about 1,875 W, so 20 × 100 W at 6 m × 5 m spacing. Check: 2,000 W gives about 160 lux. At 80 lm/W the same godown needs about 2,350 W, twenty-four 100 W fittings.

Example godown, 30 m × 20 m at 150 lux: three ways to do it (catalogue MRP)

40 × 50 W (1087)₹58,000
20 × 100 W (1089)₹39,000
10 × 200 W (1091)₹52,000

Worked arithmetic, not a test result. All three are about 2,000 W in total. MRP of the fittings only, before cable, brackets and labour. The 200 W layout leaves 10 m between rows across the shed, too wide for even light at 7 m. Bars to scale against ₹58,000.

The 100 lumens per watt figure is an assumption to show the method, not a rating of our fittings. Use the lumens printed on the box or the test report for the model you buy, and redo the sum.

Low-roof godowns and packing benches: tube fittings

Under a roof of about 4 m, a flood light is too concentrated; LED tube fittings in rows spread the light more evenly, and the same arithmetic gives the count.

A 15 m × 10 m godown at 100 lux: 150 sq m × 100 = 15,000, ÷ 0.48 = 31,250 lumens, about 313 W at our assumed 100 lm/W. That is 16 × 1059 T5 20 W in four rows of four, about 3.75 m × 2.5 m apart. Fitting MRP: ₹3,200.

A 10 m × 6 m packing area at 300 lux: 60 × 300 ÷ 0.48 = 37,500 lumens, about 375 W, so 10 × 1060 T8 40 W in two rows of five over the benches. Fitting MRP: ₹6,000.

Keep tubes over the work, not behind the packer, so bodies do not shadow the cartons. See our LED tube fittings.

We sell in full boxes only. The 1059 and 1060 come 40 to a box, and flood lights 10 to a box, so plan the whole site’s count in box multiples before you order.

Dust, monsoon and fumes: IP ratings for a shed

For a dusty or damp shed, look for a fitting with a tested rating of at least IP65, which under IEC 60529 means dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets; IP66 adds protection against powerful jets, which matters where floors are hosed down.

The first digit is solids, the second is water. IP54 is dust-protected and splash-resistant, fine inside a dry, sheltered store. IP65 suits open docks, cement and flour dust, and monsoon spray through louvres. IP66 suits wash-down areas. Neither is an immersion rating. See our IP rating guide.

An IP rating says nothing about chemical attack. Where the air is corrosive, ask about the body, gasket and fixings, and keep fittings out of direct vapour paths.

Our printed catalogue does not list an IP rating against each fitting. Ask us, or the dealer, whether the exact model has a tested IP rating before you put it in a wet or dusty zone; if it has none, do not use it there.

Water inside a fitting is a shock risk, not just a dead light. Any fitting at a wet dock or wash area should be on a circuit with RCCB protection, which your electrician adds (we do not make RCCBs).

Yard, gate and loading dock lighting

Light the yard road with LED street lights on poles, the wall and gate with flood lights, and the dock canopy with flood lights angled down onto the truck bed.

Our street lights run from 1071 18 W MRP ₹850 to 1076 100 W MRP ₹2,400, with 1073 30 W MRP ₹1,200 and 1075 50 W MRP ₹1,600 between. Ultra Prime runs 1078 15 W MRP ₹550 to 1099 100 W MRP ₹2,400. For pole height and spacing on the yard road, use our street light pole guide

Loading bays need about 150 lux. A 1087 50 W flood light on the canopy, aimed into the truck, lights the bed. Point every outdoor flood down and inward: light thrown at the gate dazzles drivers and the watchman alike.

Put yard and perimeter lights on their own circuit with a timer or photocell, so they are not left burning through the day.

Wiring the lights: three-phase, TPN DB and MCBs

In a three-phase shed, lighting usually gets its own TPN distribution board, with the fittings split across the three phases on separate single pole MCB circuits, so one tripped circuit never blacks out the whole floor.

Twenty 100 W fittings is about 2,000 W. Split as 7, 7 and 6 across three phases, each circuit carries about 700 W ÷ 230 V ≈ 3 A, comfortably on 1.5 sq mm wire with a 10 A MCB. The MCB protects the wire. Many LED drivers switched together draw a brief inrush current, so ask your electrician to check the MCB curve suits it.

From our VIYONA range at MRP: the 387 4-way TPN double door DB MRP ₹2,620 (389 8-way MRP ₹3,350), a 432 40 A four pole MCB MRP ₹855 as incomer if your electrician sizes it so, and 401 single pole MCBs, 6 to 32 A, MRP ₹145, made under licence CM/L-2544151. See TPN MCB box and 3 pole vs 4 pole MCB.

For our 50 W and smaller street and flood lights, spare drivers are 1043 18–24 W MRP ₹240, 1044 30–36 W MRP ₹360 and 1045 50 W MRP ₹400, made under IS 15885 licence R-71026310. For 100 W and 200 W fittings, ask us about driver replacement. Our godown wiring guide covers the cable runs.

Fixed wiring in a factory is work for a licensed electrician. Switch off at the MCB and prove the circuit dead before anyone opens a fitting.

Glare, the Factories Act and keeping the lux up

The Factories Act, 1948 requires sufficient and suitable lighting wherever workers work or pass, and asks factories, so far as practicable, to prevent glare and shadows that cause eye strain or accidents.

Each state may set its own standards, so ask your safety officer what the Maharashtra Factories Rules require. Glare usually comes from fittings tilted up into a forklift driver’s eyes.

Aim every fitting down, never up into the racked area, high enough that a driver looking down an aisle does not see the LED face.

The MF 0.8 in our sum assumes someone cleans the fittings. Wipe fittings on a schedule, with the circuit off, and measure with a lux meter once a year.

Write the design lux on the DB door for each zone. When a reading drops below it, you know it is time to clean or replace, not to add more lights.

FAQs

Who makes industrial LED lighting in Maharashtra?
Vinayak Electricals makes LED flood lights (10 W to 200 W), street lights (15 W to 100 W), PVC bulkheads and T5 and T8 tube fittings at its works in Andheri East, Mumbai, and supplies across Maharashtra through dealers. Other national brands sell industrial fittings too; compare lumens, tested IP rating and test reports.
How many lux does a warehouse need?
Roughly 100 lux for bulk storage where little detail is needed, 150 lux where labels must be read and at loading bays, and 300 lux for packing and despatch, per CIBSE/SLL Lighting Guide 1. These are minimum maintained values.
How many LED flood lights do I need for a 600 sq m godown?
On an open floor, about twenty 100 W flood lights for 150 lux, assuming a utilisation factor of 0.6, a maintenance factor of 0.8 and 100 lumens per watt. At 80 lumens per watt it becomes about twenty-four. Redo the sum with your fitting’s rated lumens.
What height should LED flood lights be in a factory shed?
In our example a 9 m shed takes 100 W fittings at 7 m, one row over each aisle, aisles 6 m apart. Hang a flood light facing down only if the maker confirms the model suits that orientation; ask us first. A lighting designer confirms uniformity from photometric data.
What IP rating do I need for a dusty factory?
IP65 or better. Under IEC 60529, IP65 is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets; IP66 adds powerful jets for wash-down areas. Our catalogue does not print IP ratings, so ask us or the dealer whether the exact model has a tested rating; if not, keep it out of dusty or wet zones.
Can I buy industrial LED lights directly from Vinayak Electricals?
Yes, in full boxes, through a dealer, by calling us or by visiting our Marol works in Mumbai. We do not sell online or single pieces, and test reports are available on request before an order.
